Safety, Welfare & Equipment

Welfare & Safeguarding

Ruishton Football Club has a role to play in safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from neglect or bullying.

The FA's Safeguarding Children Regulations apply to everyone in football whether in a paid or voluntary capacity, including coaches/managers, volunteers, match officials, helpers on club tours, or medical staff or other club officials/helpers.

Ruishton Football Club has appointed a Club Welfare Officer (“CWO”) in line with The FA’s role profile who has completed the Safeguarding Children and Welfare Officers Workshop by the CWO.

Club Welfare Officer Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all relevant volunteers complete the FA’s Safeguarding Children training programme.
  • Promoting the FA’s Respect Programme and implementing policies regarding safeguarding, anti-bullying and equality.
  • Making sure recruiting processes are responsible and that everyone follows the RESPECT Programme codes of conduct.
  • Helping League and Club volunteers understand their ‘duty of care’ towards children and young people.
  • Managing the roll out of FA DBS checks.
  • Ensures that all Club members have a safe and positive experience at their Club.
  • Promoting the importance of safeguarding children and young people.
  • Creating a culture of respect and positive behaviour.
Player Safety, Equipment & Football Kit

There is certain equipment that EVERY player MUST bring to each training session or match day, failure to do so may result in that player being unable to take part in the session.

  • Shin Pads - an essential piece of equipment for every player which must be worn. Failure to so will prevent the player from taking part.
  • Water Bottle - football is a physical activity, and it is extremely important to stay hydrated throughout, make sure you bring a drink! We also advise that players bring an appropriate coat, extra layers and gloves on a cold winter’s day!

Match Kit

Each player will require a Ruishton Football Club kit. These are available from Somerset County Sports, based at the Cricket Ground in Taunton.

  • Match day shirt - Must be worn at every match
  • Match day shorts - Must be worn at every match
  • Socks - Must be worn at every match

Optional

These are optional items that players may choose to bring to matches.

  • Sweatshirt - Optional
  • Raincoat - Optional
